*I searched around and couldn't seem to find much info on this. While it's not my workhorse, I currently play a standard Stingray Special for specific gigs. I'm interested in swapping the standard neck for a SLO Special. Does anybody know if the SLO neck is compatible with the standard ray special instrument? I'm hoping I don't have to buy a whole new instrument just for the neck. Also, if you have experience with this, I'm curious. Thanks, - Shane
yes, swapping the standard neck on a "stingray special" for the "slo special" neck, on said stingray special. I know they make the SS with the SLO neck, but I don't know if the SLO neck can be swamped onto a SS that previously had the standard neck.
Yea, probably a question for EB directly. I always assumed the slo special had the same neck pocket as the standard but with a narrow nut.
The pocket is probably the same, but the heel is completely different. Also, the Sting Ray Special has a 5 bolt neck. I'm assuming the old SLO Special had a 6 bolt neck. They have just released a Sting Ray Special with the SLO Special neck (which makes it Special Special), which would fit, but you've no chance of buying the neck separately, new.
right... we're getting lost in translation. I'm trying to figure out if the Stingray Special SLO Special neck will fit on a Stringray Special standard neck heel. getting one is a whole other problem...
idk... I was kind of just hoping EBMM would sell me one... it's either that or I'm buying a G&L kiloton. I like the ray special I have and I don't want to buy another ray special just for the neck. my main gig is a 4-set-per-night cover band. I would really love to be able to switch from my g&l jazz to my special as needed, but don't like dealing with the totally different neck feel and size. especially since it would only be for a few songs at a time. the kiloton on the other hand, has virtually the same neck as the JB... and now im convincing myself to buy a kilton... lol. make it stop
I mean, the neck is a pretty major component of a bass. I don’t think it’s crazy to sell the Special and get a Special SLO
It’s not. I just really like the one I have. I’m also one of those that gets super sentimental over instruments.
