  2. Petebass seems to be the expert on Ebony amps, i'd wait for him to turn up and give you the low down. So my post is pretty much useless.

Whoa how did I miss this thread????????????

I've bought one of the first Ebony Quake 400 bass amps ever sold. Three months later I bought a second one - they are BRILIANT value. Loud, clean, punchy yet warm, and plenty of tone shaping cababilities.

I actually walked in looking to buy a GK1001b. The Ebony was half the price but sounded just that little bit better in the bottom end. I guess they don't have to worry about the shipping costs so it keeps the price down.

I don't own any of their cabs but I've tried them out and they also sound very good. they're loaded with Eminence drivers and weigh very little for a 4x10. The 15 is also a ripper.

    Buy it!

Are you from Sydney by any chance?

It's not my band, I'm just standing in for their regular bass player. So you'll see me reading from my cheat notes for a lot of the songs..... Actually the drummer is also a fill-in, so there should be some "interesting" things going on in the rhythm section :)

The band is called "The Dora D Band". You've heard Dora before, she sings on a lot of TV comercials.

If you decide to come, let me know and I'll organise free entry for you and a few mates.

You're half right. The DJ plays before us, during our breaks, and after we're finished. They seem to only book dance/funk type bands there.

I don't play there often, but it's a good night out. The first set is always quiet. The second set is better and the third set is rockin. IMO they should get the band to start later, and they agree. But at the moment management is in best behaviour - the local council is watching them like a hawk. Those new appartments are generating some noise complaints, which sucks because the club was there first....

... I don't know what they put in the water up there, but it's almost like there's someone at the door stopping the ugly ones from walking in.

I like Newcastle. Sometimes it seems like people in Sydney have forgotten how to party. Newcastle's got it down pat, especially if the footy team won.
