Ebony Fretboard?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by fleabass89, Mar 16, 2001.

  1. I was browsing around the net today, and I found a few basses and guitars (i can't remember which brand) with ebony fretboards. I've never seen one of them. Has anyone played one? They look really cool and gothic cause the fretboard is like black.

Maybe not goth (with the maple bod) but...

...was BassNW. Now she's ALL mine :D

Pretty sweet! Smooth, solid feel. Ringy-dingy tone (even with tapes)

My Lakland fretless has an ebony board. Very hard, and looks nice too.

  4. My Aria Pro II has an ebony fretboard, and I love it. Much smoother and faster than rosewood, and cooler looking than anything else.

Ebony is pretty common. Its the best fretboard for fretted or fretless in my opinion. I accept nothing but for fretless, with the exception of diamondwood.
