  1. How does an Ebony Fretless Fingerboard hold up (visible wear) with Roundwounds?

I trashed the ebony board on my Wal after 8 years of heavy playing with Rotosound RS66's. After having it smoothed out I went to flats because I didn't like the prospect of future replacement of the fingerboard. But now I love flats so it's not a bother for me.

Quite well IME. Use Nickel rounds. DR Sunbeams, SIT, Ken Smith Burners. There's no substitute for roundwounds if that's the sound you seek.

RS66's are about the harshest string you can choose. It played TI jazz rounds on a fretless and the board holds up quite well.

Yeah, but it was a long time ago and I didn't know any better.
