I just ordered a EBS Octabass Blue Label octave pedal, and the specs say it can be run anywhere between 9v and 18v. I have a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 3, which has the ability to switch between 9v and 12v.

Can someone explain the differences/advantages of running this pedal at a higher voltage? Would it be suggested I run it at 12v?

Thank you for posting this question, astroarbol. I have also wondered the same.

Depending on the pedal, running higher voltage may provide more headroom, which can avoid unwanted clipping/distortion if your signal is too hot. If you sound fine at 9v, you’re probably fine to leave it there.
