so i have the original, not the new one with DI. any idea what it's based on? is the schematic basically an svt, bassman, sunn preamp or something totally different? i want to find an amp with the same or similar preamp in it. technically i'm already there;) but... it's got me thinking

Are you looking for the tone with the vintage switch on?

With the vintage circuit on, the Valve Drive uses two sections of a 12AX7 tube for gain amplifiers with 10 diodes arranged to clip the signal via feedback loop. It is basically a HV tube screamer with tube amps instead of an opamp.
