Economical Fretless Electric Bass Guitar...

What are fair to good quality fretless basses to consider? I want to buy a 4 string fretless with the neck plain - only the fret markers running along the top edge of the neck. I want to learn how to play this type of bass so my first one can't be too costly, around $500.
