Was thinking of getting an Eden 800 with a Avatar 4 x 10 cab. The guy at Eden says 8 ohm cabs sound better. At Avatar they say get the 4 ohm unless you're going to add other cabs (I'm not).

    Who is right?

According to the specs on the Eden website, it appears the 8 ohm load is optimal when the amp is being operated in BRIDGED mode (all 880 watts out/single channel vs 440 watts each/2 channel).

You can use either 4 or 8 ohm cabs, depending on how much power out you require. I'm not sure the Avatar 4x10 will handle 880 watts all by its lonesome, but I do not own one so can't speak from experience.
