  1. Any one have or had or tried this amp?

I am trying to find out more information about this.
Some one told me that this one has the Demeter preamp built in?

    thanks in advance

    What's a VT 40?

I thought there's only VT-300, and this one is designed and built(?) by Koch Guitar Electronics (Netherlands).

  3. I saw a VT25 on eBay just recently...from the info on the front panel it indeed had a "Preamp by Demeter"...

Dunno anything else about it, though.

It's a 400 watt head. It was one of their first models. The preamp was designed by Demeter. The EQ doesn't have much range but the amp sounds great, maybe even better than the new versions. If I had the bread I would buy one.

I had one for 4 years and sold it to a friend, so I still get to play through it occasionally. 400 watts into a 4 ohm load... 250 into 8 ohms... Spidey's right... not much adjustment on the passive/shelving tone controls, but what a sound! The switchable frequency centers add some flexibility, and the 'Presence' control rocks! Demeter designed pre-amp, plenty of punch, solid as a rock. Mine was a '92... Tended to get rather hot towards the end of a gig, but that never seemed to affect the sound. I always wondered about the model name... "vt .40"... Selling it was one of the gear decisions that I really regret!

  6. Bassplayer mag reviewed one of these many years ago. Do a search. Their review was not very complementary as I recall.

It's in the Sept. 92 issue... If you want, I can scan and send it. It's not a bad review... they were just more impressed with the Eden cab than with the head and commented about the minimal EQ'ing... However, the amp does sound great to start with... IMO, of course ;)

I think thelowend.net has one for sale. I saw it somewhere on that site. Around $900

Yeah, I saw it there on Brian's website. I thought that sounded a bit spendy. But it looked kinda cool in an "Eden sorta way".:)
