I don't have time to search through other threads looking for an answer, so I'm sorry if this has been addressed. I'm running an Eden WT800C head (1100W in bridged mono / 550W each side) and the Eden D410XLT (700W) cab. I'd like to add a second cab, but I want to make sure I'm well informed about ohms/wattage before spending that kind of money. Can someone tell me if I can hook up a second Eden D410XLT cab and what that would mean for my wattage/ohms/etc.? I think if I daisy chain (run in series) two 410's @ 8ohms with my amp in bridged mono, then it goes to 16 ohms and my signal gets quieter, correct? So, is running one 410 on each side of my head in parallel at 550W each the correct scenario here, or is there a better way to maximize the use of my head? Bottom line, I want more oomph. Right now I push my 700W 410 cab pretty hard by itself (too hard sometimes) when my amp is in bridged mono (1100W). If I run two cabs in parallel, each will be getting 550W... at least in theory. What will that do to my overall sound? Fewer watts into the cab, but I'll have two cabs.... and I'm not sure if "double the cabinets" always means louder.
If your cab is 4 ohm you can't daisy chain in bridged mode, you will need to run in dual mono. The other option IIRC is to daisy chain on one side (2 ohm stable on the rev B and C).)
Thanks for the info. The D410XLT cab is 4 or 8 ohms. So I can daisy chain two Eden DXLT410 cabs off my WT800C head, right? Two 8 ohm cabs in parallel = 4 ohms, correct? My head will go all the way down to 2 ohms. Any idea if this will be a huge difference over running just one cab?
Well if your cabs are 8 ohm you will get the most power from bridged. If your cabs are 4 ohm you can not bridge period unless you want to see magic smoke from your amp.
I think you will find that the cabinet is available in 4Ω or 8Ω not both. Your existing cabinet should have it's impedance on the back panel.
Ohhhhh... man... been playing for 24 years and I still feel like a rookie every now and then, haha. Thanks!
Just make sure both cabs are the same impedance. I run 2 x 8 Ω cabs off my WT800C... bridged mono... killer!
This is what I was hoping to hear! "I do this and it's awesome" Cool... well the cab I'm shopping is 8. I'll check my cab at home and if it's 8 as well, then I'm in business. In your opinion, is it a big difference going from 1 cab to 2?
Bridge mode will go down to 4 ohms, so either one 4 ohm cab or two 8 ohm cabs will work in bridge mono mode. if you run the amp in dual amp mode, then you can go down to 2 ohms a side, but I generaly run 4 ohms per side. Two 4ohm xlt cabs, each cab hooked up to one amp, should be pretty loud.
Adding a 2nd cab would help significantly. The head is stable down to 2 ohms per channel. In bridged mode, it's stable down to 4 ohms, which is the impedance of the 2 cabs running in parallel, so theoretically you should be fine, but I personally find the extra power you can squeeze out is not necessarily worth the risk, especially considering the extra volume you'd get out of the 2nd cab, you shouldn't need all that power.
Thanks for all the info. Really helps. Any opinions as to my extension cab being another 410 or a 212? Found both on Craigslist. Both are 8 ohms like my current 410. All Eden cabs. The 410 has a 700W RMS. The 212 is 600W.
If your current cab is 4 ohms then your other option is getting 3 more 4 ohm cabs and running two on each side for 2 sets of 2 ohm loads...
Haha, well in a perfect world, running 4 cabs would be cool. My current 410 cab is 8 ohms. I found a 410 and a 212 on Craigslist, both 8 ohms. I'm just wondering which one would be better to get for a second cab.
