I haven't heard any talk about this amp yet. I'm hoping the rep will be around when I stop by the booth tomorrow to get a little more info for y'all. Here are some really crappy cell phone pics in the meantime. Sorry, my camera's battery died, and I couldn't find the charger before my flight.
Wow, I mentioned this to the local Eden dealer yesterday and he had no clue. Any idea of a price or release date?
My guess is that it will sound like the WTX-260; it has the same solid-state preamp. I'm still getting used to the WTX-260 compared with the WT550. I think I now understand that I've got to keep the input gain lower, to avoid the compressor from distorting.
I was able to hear it very briefly through a 2x10, and was rather impressed. I don't know if it was the cab more so than the amp, but it was very full, kind of robust or round sounding. Even the snapping sounded thick and round. I'll definitely be keeping my eye on this one as I look into the micro-amp world.
That's interesting ... when I had my 260, I found that keeping the input gain at noon or higher gave me the best sound. Weird!! Different ears, tone goals and setups (basses, cabs, etc.) sure do give different results, I guess. Not arguing with you at all ... I just find it interesting that we had such different experiences. Cheers, Liam
I saw it at NAMM. Its the same size as the 260. It also has the same tonal quality. 4ohm minimum, the power switch has been moved to the back. I was told it will be offereed at $899. retail
Assuming that's a selling price of around $750 or so, this could be a pretty nice offering. I thought the original 260 actually sounded very nice, with a very nice feature set, but was just so underpowered versus the competition out there. It will be interesting to see when these actually start shipping
If it's a ThunderfunkTFB55/Eden WT550 kinda 500 watts; and it will work well with DB; I'd love to have one of these to carry in the pocket of my gig bag. $750-or preferrably a little less-would be a working price point for me.
Wow something that I would consider getting rid of my WT400 for! I'm excited! Do we know the release date?
Here's what I don't get: This thing is real. It's at NAMM. There's nothing but rumor and hyperbole out there about it, including at the Eden forum. The "what's new" section at the eden site is: the wtx260. Huh?
I think after the WT1205 and Rocco head "when will it *really* be released" stuff, maybe Eden is taking a stronger look at not publicizing or announcing things that are months or more away from a true release? Just a thought. This should be a really cool head. Eden tone, good power, and ultralight to boot. Cheers, Liam
They really need to bring the price down in my opinion. The WT260 at $600 list is way over priced and it should be around $400 and the WT500 should be around $600. Don't get me wrong, I am an Eden fan and think the WT260 sounds great, but it is overpriced.
Yeah...understood. The Rocco head. Might actually move one away from a wt800b; if there was such a thing.
