Hey all, I am wondering if there is a good basic, beginners book that is good at describing and defining compression, overdrive, gain, ohms, watts...when to use a pedal vs amp settings and so on.

Obviously, I am a beginner. I have a bass, a practice amp SWR LA10, a VOX headphone amp and that's it. I wanna get a bigger combo amp for when i play with others but would like to know more about all this before I jump in on an amp that doesn't end up doing this or that...
    Anyway, thanks for any advice.

There are the sticky threads at the top of each forum that would have a lot of the information you may be interested in. Have a look at those. An actual book, I don't know.

This forum is more up to date and probably better than any book, the people here are great.
