effect loop question

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by superbassman2000, Oct 4, 2004.

  1. i've got a sabine fuzztortion, which has 2 outputs--clean and effected. i've also got my amp, which has a regular input, and an effect loop. my question is, can you plug in the effected output to the regular input and the clean into the effect loop, so it would mix?
i would try this myself, but i don't want to blow my amp up just in case...which is entirely possible with me!

so anyways, would this work? maybe the other way around?

    i would appreciate any advice!

generally plugging into the effects return of most amps will bypass the preamp (of course, in most cases you would be sending the preamp signal thru the effects send jack to the effects and then thru the return)
The only amps that allow you to blend 2 signals are ones with a side chain parallel effects loop (like most swr heads). They actually have an effects blend knob to let you mix the wet and dry signals.
sooooooooo..............to answer your question, it probably won't work

My Ampeg Portabass has a an effects loop that works that way. It has a dry/wet blend knob. As IvanMike said, not all amps have this feature.
