I am an absolute beginner to effects and i see these phrases around everwhere. Could someone PLEASE tell me what they mean and what they do to the sound of the Bass.
    Chorus Pedal
    Compresser
    Synth
Tuner (One that doesnt tune strings)
Overdrive/Fuzz/Distortion(Whats the diff between them all)
    Wah
    Equalizer
    Enhancer
    Processor
    Octave
    Whammy
    Phaser

Some of them i know about very roughly and some i have no idea what they do
    Any help is much appreciated.

I know about some of these:

    Compresser - someone that compresses

Synth - what religious homosexuals do

Tuner - You mean John Tuner?

Wah - I think these pedals give off a sound similiar to a baby crying

Equalizer - What you use to hit somebody thats bigger or meaner than you

Chorus Pedal - designed for use only during the chorus of the song

Whammy - You don't want one of these; you want "big bucks"

Phaser - pistol-like device seen on Star Trek.
