effects loop cable?

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by complexprocess, Dec 1, 2003.

  1. Hey all. I did a search and didn't find my answer. I hope this isn't asked constantly.

I'm wondering if there's a special type of cable I need for my effects loop. I know that I need a certain cable from head to cab, but are there any considerations to be aware of for the loop? Will regular instrument cables work?.

Regular instrument cables will work. In general, I would use the shortest cable that you can get away with using. Music stores even sell 1 or 2 foot long patch cables that work really well for this purpose.

    instrument cable.
  4. Thanks guys. I'm planning to get cables between 1 and 3 feet. My new head only has a loop on the front, and my new compressor only has i/o on the back, so I need to work around that a little. That means I'll probably have to use cables a little longer than usual.
