effects loop

    what exactly is an effects loop?

    An amp can have an effects send and return, where you can put efx pedals or processors after the amp's eq and preamp, so that this efx loop is the last thing your signal hits before a power amp. People generally prefer putting time based effects like delay, flanger, chorus, etc. in there.

    You will also see amps with a efx loop mix, so you can add a certain amount of the wet, effected signal in with a dry signal that doesn't go through the efx loop.

    doing an search for this topic will probably dig up some more discussion what people put and use in an effects loop.
