I am trying to get the short bass lead down for the song "Smooth Operator"........but I know the bass player has a cool bass that helps with the sound......but he must be using some type of effect also.......Can you help me get that sound????

I believe the original guy added a touch of chorus on his Stingray.
  4. Like the others have said, chorus. I think the player is using a pick, also.

I have the dvd. I need to double check but I don't recall him using a pick.

I've always thought that break sounds really great with a fretless.

I've been wrong before (ha!), but I hear a "click" with each note on the studio recording.

I used chorus when I played in a band. Nothing fancy.
