I just got our debut EP back from the recording studio a few days ago. Comments most appriciated, especially what you dislike.

    Here's some info:

    Genre: Rock
    Name of band: Eighteen Minutes
    Location: Sweden
Name of record: Attack of the Punch Monkeys
    Time to record: 16 hours
    Number of tracks: 4
    Play time: 10:25
Years since band started: Almost 4
    Bass Used: Fender J-bass
    Website: www.18minutes.tk

    Songs:

Do You Know What I Need - Crowd favorite.

Save Me From Myself - Starts out acoustic, then explodes and breaks down to bass and drums twice and ends with a haze of distorted guitars fading out.

Better Off Dead - Very bass driven song, guitar in chorus only.

Let It Go - My favorite. at the end you can hear our guitarist screaming "I want your body!" :D

Songs can also be downloaded via our webiste.

Thanks in advance for your comments

  2. I really, really dig Let It Go.

    Cool tune.

The one thing that bothers me is the production value on the drums and guitar. The drums sound very distant, and the guitar sounds muffled. The bass and vocals both came out well though.

Thanks for your reply Marcus, and for having a listen to our songs.

I've hade some more time now to listen to the finished versions of our songs and i agree. We are planning on doing some home recording before we venture into a studio again. I was really frustrated in the studio over the fact that we had very little control over the technical aspects of recording. So as for the sound of the guitar and drums, i really don't know how that came to be.

Our singer had a bad cold the weekend we recorded the songs, and I was kind of worried that it would be obvious that he couldn't sing 100%. It's amazing how he was able to compensate for it.

Sorry man.. but I don't like it at all. Can't even push myself to listen the whole song (of all four.)

The thing wat seems almost annoying to me is the unmusical way of drumming in that record. It's like the guy knows only one way of drumming. Apart from the technicians who abviously don't know much about a good mix (statement) the worst part is the drummer itself. He just bangs along (banging on his bongo's and thinks the chicks are for free) in his 'not too well' style.. and it doesn't match the picture to me.

The vocals you said it was due to the cold.. but still.. he could make it a little bit more exciting.

I can't put the whole picture in a good combination.. sorry.

You told us.. say what you dislike too. ;)
