I have an opportunity to cheaply pick up an 80's El Degas P bass. I'm thinking of it only for a fun modding project. Anyone have anything to say about these older El Degas basses?
Hiya! I owned 2 el degas basses about 6 years ago. a nice Ric copy, and a Gibson Grabber copy. the ric was a great bass after i fixed the neck pocket. and added a dimarzio jazz in the bridge position. I loved the grabber and wish i still had it, i replaced the stock pickup with a real grabber pickup and it was awesome! it has a great jazz-like neck on it and i loved the huge flat body. all i know is that they were a copy name that we used to find in pawn shops in Canada all the time, i dunno bout the States or Europe. all in all, good basses, maybe without the electronics, pretty sturdy construction. i don't see them anymore really.
