  1. I recently bought a Rickenbacker 4001. I really like it, but now i would like to buy a overdrive pedal to get even more close to the Geddy Lee sound.
    But I haven't decided yet.
Which pedal would you choose and why?

    Electro Harmonix English Muff'n(real tubes)
Tech 21 programmable BassDriver(no tubes, but programmable)

Honestly, the Tech 21 will do a great job of the Geddy sound. He uses it's big brother, the SansAmp RBI.

Everyone just says BD because they've never even heard of the muff'n. Well I say nuts to you all, the muffin is way better :p.

As a former Muff'n user and former BDDI user, I'd say the Programmable BDDI would be a better choice for the Geddy sound.

Why would you say that? I've experienced the failure of one Sansamp and one EHX box and I've owned WAY more EHX units. Where you getting this reliability stuff?

I've owned a Big Muff, Q-Tron, and Small Stone, all of which have never failed. They are built like tanks!

My bad experience with The Blackfinger and a buzzing problem.
    Replaced unit once.
Sent second to NY for factory repair and came back with exactly same problem...Gave up ..It was the best compression, preamp I'd ever had when it sounded good, But kept letting me down...On tour , in big clubs and was so frustrating....plus the weird power supply.. :scowl:
I have used sansamps for seven years and never failed me.
Sorry you had bad luck...I guess you can never be 100% sure of anything.
I do miss my Blackfinger and have yet to find a replacement.
Am using an Art Tubepac compressor pre, but it doesn't handle the dynamics of bass as well.
Any suggestions please...DBX163x...any good with 5 string?
I had an Aphex pedal, but would distort at times :rollno:
  10. as nice as the muff'n is, he is looking for the geddy tone, and doesn't geddy use a bassdriver (or some form of it) anyways?
