Hey does anyone have any expierience with this compressor?

cause im loooking to make my tone much more fat and bassy and just compressed in general. Plus i dont wanna pay too much for a Black finger or a demeter compulator.

so from this i gather no one has played one

or no one has an opinion on it

  3. Black Finger was way too noisy for my taste. White finger doesn`t have tubes so it is more quiet. It`s very versatile from subtle compression to effect type squashing. White finger was quite nice optical compressor but ended up buying demeter 2nd hand.

    Finally!

Well thank you for a response that was quite helpful

What made your choose the Demeter over the EHX White Finger? Was it cause the Demeter was cheaper cause it was second hand? How do the 2 Stack up against eachother?

  5. As a matter of fact 2nd hand Demeter was more expensive than brand new white finger. I considered demeter compressor more musical even on extreme settings than ehx. White finger sure has more options and is more tweakable but IMO demeter suits me much better. Demeter is simple plug and play effect and it will always sound good to my ears. White finger is also very good compressor and it is just a matter of opinion is it better or worse than demeter. Have you read the user reviews from harmony central?

    Lots for the Demeter

but only 2 for the White Finger which were pretty much guitar so i was confused on which one is better.

    But thank you very much

    Alright

Now for Xmas i am getting the EHX White Finger and i have "stumbled" on to it.

So while people were away i decided to test her out.

It does get some good sounds but it has this Hiss this minor Hiss when the Post Gain is up specially in Lamp mode.

Is this normal? and if not what should i do?

  8. All compressors seem to boost background noises, hiss or whatever. I didn`t consider white finger noisy but black finger with tubes was too noisy for my taste.

Well if the Pedals do bring out some extra Noise

Than what do you people do to make it sound Good?

Noise Supressor? Certain EQ settings? Volume?

The noise comes originally from somewhere before the compressor: your pickups, the bass's control cavity, the cable, etc. Any one of those might be shielded better or worse from outside interference, or might themselves have a fault that introduces noise. Pretty much ANY system will have some line noise just due to laws of physics. But if you have a well-shielded system with clean connections, the noise will be lower.

If you're stuck with a noisy setup, it's best to not turn the gain/sustain knobs of your comp up to max settings; also you can use a noise gate after the comp.
