Elixar bass strings what's up with the shedding

    I have a Ibanez SR500 strung with elixar's (came that way) I know the shedding is the coating I was wondering if anyone uses anything specific to clean this up or is there something to do to limit it? any input aprreciated it thanks

    Dont worry about it. Dont put anything on them.

    ok cool do they eventually wear all the coating off and start marking up the frets?

    how old are the strings?

    I haven't had problems with the Elixir nanowebs shedding. The old Polywebs would do that, however.

    I think Nanowebs came out in 2010 or 2011. Anyway, just curious how old your stuff is!

    Not sure bought the bass used looked like it was never played think it was factory stocked

    If you like the tone and/or feel of the strings:

    I think the newer Nanowebs sound better and feel better. They also shouldn't shed.

    cool the tone on these are decent if the new ones are better I will be trying them next
