Could you give me more information about elm wood and what is better, basswood or elm?

I've never heard of elmwood being used in basses, but basswood is commonly used as a body wood. Basswood is a cheaper, and generally dull sounding body wood. However, it has been used successfully on the MusicMan Bongo and other basses. This wood be a good topic for the Luthier's Corner.

Elm was used in OLPs natural series.

I'd suggest posting this in the Luthier's forum.
  5. Elm reminded me of alder, at least the OLP I played.
