Our bandleader decided he wants to perform a set of all Elvis Vegas style songs. Just started working on Jerry Scheff's bass parts and needless to say these lines make most of Jamerson's bass parts simple in comparison! Busy stuff! Not sure how our drummer is going to cop Ronnie Tutt's parts, first rehearsal next week should be interesting lol.

Back in the 1970s, I played bass for a very talented Elvis impersonator.

By necessity, (due to lack of talent, knowledge, experience, skill and ability), I simplified the bass lines down to the bare bones. I doubt that anyone who saw us said to themselves, "That bass player does not play the songs like Elvis's bass player plays them".

We had fun and made good money.

When I saw Elvis I don't think I paid any attention to the bass player or the drummer myself.

After all, it's only Rock and Roll.

I worked with an Elvis impersonator for a few years. He was actually very talented. He often went down to Memphis and entered into the Elvis Presley competitions and always did well.

We did a 2 set show.
Set one Pre Vegas
Set two - Vegas style .. opening with American Trilogy of course.

Burning Love was a blast to play.
Viva Las Vegas.. the crowds loved this song.. especially the introduction.
Great tunes and cool bass parts. I still have the charts.

Have a great time and I hope the shows are a success.

We're closing with American Trilogy! No idea how our horn players are going to sound like JD Sumner and The Stamps quartet! Plus we don't have tympani!

No-no-no....close out with "Can't Help Falling in Love" in pretty much cut-time like Elvis's live show. I worked with an Elvis / tribute artists act for a decade....still have most of the charts, I think.
