Every day, I get 70 pieces of junk mail (rough estimation) I rarely check my mail every day, so I get bombarded. This is getting unreal, I have to bail on my email account every year because it gets out of hand. Is there any sanity left in the world?! Can anyone shelter me from SPAM?!
  2. whats your account under, ex. hotmail, aol, ect...

Don't sign up to all those pron sites and you won't get so much spam.

No. Pick your user name carefully, use a seperate "junk account" for sites you know will spam, don't give out your addy to idiots.

send me an invite gia 8^|

oh, and i get zero spam with no spam protection, because i use my email sensibly :)
  8. Create a free trash email account (yahoo, hotmail, etc.) to use for communications with anyone other than close friends/family.

Also, ask that people leave you off the distro list on any forwarded joke type emails.
  9. Hey! If anyones going to be beggin Gia for G-mail, it's going to be ME!!

If I knew what G-mail was... I wouldn't be confused.

    For reference, I

    A) am on hotmail
    B) don't subscribe to any porn
    C) don't subscribe to anything
    D) avoid giving out my email addy at all costs

This brings up a question I've had for a while now - Do free email account companies (Like Yahoo and hotmail) sell your information or "Give your info to their 'partners?'"

In my experience, Hotmail is the worst when it comes to spam...my account is like yours and I never use it except to host the occasional photo. I'd keep it as a "junk account" (like when you sign up for contests, register appliances, or register on newsgroups) and get a Yahoo account (works well, 100 Megs for free, I never get spam). Gmail is good too, it's kind of like the Yahoo one except it's by Google and it comes with 1 Gig of space...but that one is in it's pilot phase now and you can only get an account through an invitation. Both have an email searching feature, that I haven't played with lately.

Best thing to do is to keep your email addy a secret from everyone except people you want to receive mail from. Don't post articles to USENET, that is a sure way to get on the lists. Don't make your email public on these boards. Be sure to enable private messaging on these boards though otherwise other board members can't reach you.
