What would be the tone differences in having a 40J neck and 40DC in the bridge

Do you like the way a J pickup sounds in the bridge position? They've got a particular sort of a midrangy burp/honk that's been a classic part of a lot of music. By the same token, it's not a sound for everyone.

The DC is going to be a bit less emphasized on the mids.. shading more toward (but not reaching of course) a stringray kinda vibe in bride position.

What sound are you going for? That'll be the key.

If I were dropping new EMGs into a 5er that needed pickups, I'd go 40P5 in the neck and 40DC at the bridge, but that's just me.
