First I had emg 45J's with a btc in the bass. Great sound
but too tame or flat or something. Not enough lows or
highs. I changed everything out for some Bart CB soapbars
with a Bart ntbt (bass and treble) Sucked big time!
It had great low mids, but huge undefined bass, and thin,
compressed highs. I'm going back to the emg's.
Any opinions about using the obp-1 to help goose the
emg's in the lows and highs? I think the low end eq point on
the btc may be too high to add much oomph. HELP!!!!!!!

I use EMG 40 Js with a Sadowsky outboard pre & it sounds killer! Really warms up the EMGs. Nice & tight lows. OBP-1 should be fairly similar.

Hi.. I've got a couple of 5 strings I had made (fretted and fretless) with an EMG 40P5 at the neck and a 40TW at the bridge.. I'm finding exactly the same thing with my BTC 2 band preamp.. not enough deep bass boost and not enough, well, balls!.. I'm thinking of putting the OBP-1 preamp in (the basses are wired for 18volt operation).. Would be very interested to hear other peoples opinions in this set up..

As I mentioned in another thread, I just put an OBP-1 with
my EMG 45J's. It rocks! Just what I was looking for. It
really brings the EMG's to life. If I need it, it fills out the
bottom big, but firm, with good "slapping" highs.
