    Hello,

I just installed Geezer Butler pickups in my Squier. Everything went smooth until I had to press the button down. My bridge ground fell out, now the button won't reopen. Now I have to contact EMG. Unbelievable. I went with these because I'm not very handy and don't want to solder. I returned my Seymour Duncans.

It's just an IDC connector. You can buy a pack of them for a few bucks at any hardware store.

  4. Home Depot has them in the aisle with phone/TV/computer stuff. I usually try to get small channel locks on the connector, press the wires all the way in with the other hand and squeeze the button with the pliers.

So I used these it says phone on them but worked perfectly.
I had everything set up. I changed the bridge get everything together play it and adjusted the pickup height a screw falls out. What a day.

I changed the pickguard too. When I need new strings again I'll take it a part see if I can get that screw back in the pick up. I put foam with a spring that stewmac sells. IDK what happened. Sounds awesome though. I'm just glad I did it on my $400 Squier. Lol

  7. That’s exactly what EMG gets. They’re not magic tone connectors. :D Congratulations on a successful mod. You might look around online and see if you can get some slightly longer screws. You shouldn’t have to remove the pickguard to reinstall that screw.

Thanks and that's a good idea about getting longer screws.

Yeah, either the screw is a little short, or the hole in the body is wider than it should be. Are those the screws from the original pickups? If they are, the hole is probably a little stripped out. You can just take a toothpick, put a little glue on one end (yellow if you have it, but even white glue will work), jam it in the hole, snip it off flush, and put the screw in immediately (so no need to wait for it to dry, or drill a new hole).

If it's the screws that came with the EMG pickup, try the originals instead.

I would be using the EMG Geezer set in a bass already if they did an option for those of us who prefer to solder. Quick Connect should be an option, not the only option. OP highlights the reasoning for this.

Just cut the connectors off and solder to your heart's content :D

The leads are still the same as any pickup.

Yes, quick connect to the pickups, bare wire ends on the pot's side (or switch or whatever your setup is). You can buy the connectors by them selves and add them to whatever wires you want (I've seen @AudioTaper do it, he can tell you which ones and where to get em). Or you can buy the leads from EMG with connectors on them already.

You can get from EMG the standalone connectors that go from the back of the pickup to the pot. I’ve purchased a few of them and modified them to connect to the pickup as usual but removed the plastic connector at the other end so they can be soldered to any pot you want.

the gzrs are taller than a lot of pbass pickups so depending on the bass you might need longer screws, yeah.

The connectors are Molex SL series, which are fairly inexpensive. BUT you have to have (or know where to borrow) the expensive crimper. I would suggest just buying the premade connectors from EMG
