I just got another one of these to install in an Ibanez TMB-100.

No matter how I install this thing, I get an extreme buzz.

Right now I just have it going Jack- Volume.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

I searched and couldn't find anyone with this specific issue.

Sure you have connected the wires right to the jack out plug?

Cause I got that the wrong way around when I bypassed all controls to hook my Geezers up directly to the jack.

And contrary to what is the usual effects on putting your hands on any metal parts of the bass, the buzz increased when I did so.

I swapped the the hot and ground wire on the jack, and sure enough they worked perfectly.

If that is not the case, you might have got a faulty pair.

When connected correctly they should be absolutely noiseless.

Thank you! This did the trick, although I oringally had white to tip and black to sleeve. That's what the diagram shows, but for some reason it didnt work.

    Thanks!

hey! I was also thinking about mounting EMG PUs in a TMB 100. I ve done a search and seems you were the only one who upgraded his TMB 100. So I am curious: How is the sound improvement EMGs vs. stock? are you satisfied?

100 percent better than the stock tone in my opinion. I only mounted the P, not the PJ.

With the stock setup I felt the need to tweak the preamp to get really usable tones.

With the GZR, it's instand p bass bliss. I have mine strung with roto flats and treat it like a Phil Lynott/Thin Lizzy tribute. Gonna get a mirror guard made for it. 20170727_183313.jpg

thanks for the quick reply ! yeah a mirror guard would give it a nice touch for sure , definitely standing out of the crowd:D
You've also re-positioned the Volume / Tone Button - was that necessary or just for your convenience

I still have the stock strings but I've heard mostly good about the roto strings thanks for the tipp
anyway, nice to know that youre satisfied!

Yes, it was necessary, I forgot I did that. With the pot mounted on the metal control plate, i got really unbearable noise.

I dont know if youll have the same experience, but if you keep the pot isolated from the plate somehow, it should be fine

oh thanks for the tipp I've read now - the Geezer is active , the EMG I have is passive so probably that'S why you had to rethink the wiring
