EMG or BARTS for a thumb bass

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by groovking, Feb 2, 2002.

  1. any suggestions on these. when considering i tend to go for 2 band 9v electronics,......call me a caveman, but i just dont like the 18v 3 band eqs. i played a thumb bass bolt on 37th anniv ed from gc and it had mec pus,.....and i loved it with its 2 band electronics. which of these pus are best to most ears? .my application will be a neck thru vintage 4 string thumb..................thank you all

Warwick used to use Bartolini Stuff. The Vintage Thumb doesn't have it? Hmmm....

If you like a nice, natural, woody sound and you want to run 9v or passive, go with the Barts. They are more organic, to me at least.

EMGs are my favorite, but if you want a natural sound, you may want to avoid them. They are notorious for having a colorless, sterile tone that I LOVE in my Modulus's and GK rig. It cuts through like a drill press through a stick of butter. That almost completely would negate the point of getting a Warwick.
  3. this bass has emgs, stock in it, and i havent played it
