I recently got a set of used and heavily abused emg pj pickups on ebay, and upon installation, I realized one of the screw holes has been split down the side and is cracked on the top. The hole can still support the screw head, but it makes me nervous. Like very nervous. Does anyone have any solution that might work to make the screw hole any more stable? Thanks and appreciation for responses.
Yeah, superglue. Take the pickup out, apply a small amount to the crack and then gently clamp the crack closed. Wait a few minutes, done.
^This^ I'd use thin Ca. not the stuff you get at the grocery store but Cyanoacrylate thin (most hobby stores will carry it) Have a way to clamp the crack quickly, (Ca. drys rather fast) wick some into the crack and clamp. Leave it clamped for a half hour or so (unless you use an accelerator) Then re-drill the hole and clean up any remaining glue/spill over with a series of sand papers.
