Eminence BP1525 Replacement for Rumble 115 V3 Bass Cab

Hello Forum Pros....Need some help here as I "Can't get no Satisfaction" from Fender or Eminence. Fender online is all but dead to customer service and Eminence Does Not respond. Here's the rub. Got a Fender Rumble 115 V3 Bass Cabinet that I really like. Best sound for the money. The speaker is starting to buzz and distort so I think I may have pushed it a little too hard with with my Aguilar 700 Tone Hammer. Since I can not replace it with the Eminence stock speaker as it is unavailable I was thinking about another Eminence to replace it with like the Eminence "Legend BP1525-8 ohm". The cab has two ports with a tweeter and the dimensions are H 20.75 - W 23.0 - D 14.5 - Cu ft 3.65 - Sq ft 3.31. I would appreciate some sagely advice from some of you math wizards and cabinet designers especially "Aged Horse" designer of what I believe to be the Best Bass Cabs Ever IMHO - Mesa 215 Subway Ultra lite. I would have 2 of them if money was not an issue. But alas Here I am with a Fender Rumble V3 115. Still for what it is, it is a nice little Thumper! What do you think guys, Legend BP1525 ? You might VERIFY that your driver is in fact bad first. I see a lot of incorrectly diagnosed guesses...

Check with Full Compass, they may be able to get you the correct factory replacement part.

Is that a 4 ohm cabinet? I may have this mixed up with the Rumble 200 combo...

It is an 8 Ohm stand alone cab. Speaker is probably shot as I have pushed it hard. I would like to upgrade to a better speaker anyhow, if I can. The stock Speaker is decent, but I could use a bit more punch and bottom end. I originally wanted the Legend CB15-8 cast frame but I don't think it will fit. Different bolt hole alignment. Would the Legend BP 1525 be an upgrade to the stock cheapo light Stock speaker?

The original speaker is quite good and well balanced for the cabinet.

You are making assumptions that may not be true.

The folks at Parts-Express can be helpful. They also list recommended cabinet sizes for sealed and ported enclosures.

This one recommends a 3.5' for a ported cab, which would be pretty close.

This one recommends a 3.5' for a ported cab, which would be pretty close.

Thank you I will look into this because I really do want to replace the stock Speaker. There are better sounding drivers out there and I was mainly interested in replacing it to begin with. You know, kind of like painting the wall of the living room you want a different view. Little more beef, little more punch and little more screaming mid range in those upper notes. Just wondering if the bolt holes will line up with the original holes in the cabinet. I'll give them a call. Thanks again.

You would still need the porting info and once you have that you would have no idea what it sounds like in advance of buying it.

Improving a speaker cabinet takes a lot of work and cost, even when you know what you are doing.

If we could have achieved the performance of the Subway 215 with less expensive drivers, we would have but couldn't find one.

I was also indirectly involved with the speakers used in the Rumble cabinets when working for my previous company.

Wow! That is impressive. For what it is, it is a thumper of a cabinet. I did not know you had your finger in the rumble pie lol. OK I get it. So one final question; hypothetically speaking will the legend BP 1525 actually fit in the rumble cab? If I need to go that way, and just how close is it matched to the OEM speaker in the rumble V3? Google AI seems to think it's close but I would really appreciate hearing from you on that matter just in case. And with the ports be acceptable.?

At one time I had some 8 ohm replacement drivers but they are long gone.

Any Fender (electronics, not guitar) authorized service center should be able to order the replacement driver for you.

Aged horse is correct you cannot just switch it out. That cabinet was designed with those speaker parameters. There are a bunch of conditioners that have to be met.

Right! Unfortunate but right. So I really don't wanna buy another cabinet to sit on top of that because the venue that I play would be overkill . Hence the need for a one-size-fits-all, but it looks like everybody is convincing me to not do that although I have heard testimonies of dropping a Legend BP1525 in a Fender Rumble V3 115 box and it working great. So I'm not looking to get the same tone. I'm looking to get a better tone. It seems the OEM speaker in the Rumble V3 115 was made to be light and cheap. That it is. Thank you for your reply. I just wanted to run it by the pros hoping. I came from big amps and bigger cabinets like a Mesa Boogie Bass 400 and an Acoustic 408 cabinet with 4 - 15" EVs. That baby moved some air. And I just swapped out the acoustic speakers for EVS and that rig pissed off more people than any other time in my life. Now that I'm in my 70s I don't have the strength. Now it's an Aguilar 700 tone hammer and a Mesa 800 D over a single 15. I need portable beef so it looks like I need to settle for a Subway bass cab. So in case anyone out there reads this post the Bass addiction never goes away, it gets stronger as we age. I'll be 73 next week and I wanna rock as much as I ever did or more. Just don't have the strength to lug the big boxes around. Love those Subway Ultra Lites. Thanks again to everyone who's had a hand in making those. Including Agedhorse.

I suspect the rumble 115 v3 cabinet is a little bit too small for optimum performance from a lot of off the shelf 15 inch speakers. I do know from experience of trying three or four different aftermarket speakers in that cabinet that none of them really offered much improvement over the stock speaker. Love it or hate it, the stock speaker is designed for that particular cabinet, and apparently most off-the-shelf speakers are not designed for that particular cabinet's dimensions.

Fender pulled off a really smart trick with the rumble version three series. Speakers and cabinets designed to sound pleasing to the greatest number of consumers (the average, not the specialist) yet immune from being improved in any meaningful way by the average DIY'er. To get a better sound you really do have to upgrade to the next level of product. It really makes me think they have smart people thinking about this stuff in advance.
