For normal gig work (not wanting to fly etc.) would an Eminence detachable neck (RN4) be as permantly stable as a fixed neck Eminence? Is the RN4 equally good in tone as a fixed neck? Your views most welcome.

I have a both a 7/8 fixed neck double bass as well as the Eminence with the detachable neck. Both feel the same to me. Very solid. I like the convenience of being able to break the bass down for travel even around town. Can't compare to fixed neck Eminence.

I have a detachable neck eminence. The dovetail joint is actually made out of metal and is very stable.

    I can compare.

You'll notice no difference in tone, stability, or playability. Even under close inspection, the only difference to be found when the bass is fully assembled is that the RN model has the thumbscrew on the back of the heel. That's it!
