http://www.empresseffects.com/heavy.html Can't wait to hear sound clips. I am a combo guitar/bass player. I own a Multidrive and love it, although more for guitar than bass. I can't wait to hear how this sounds, and specifically how it sounds on bass.
I am curious how the two channels work---in series, parallel, or only one at a time. Definitely on my G.A.S. list.
I realize there's not a whole lot to talk about until there are clips, but does anyone else have thoughts?
Wow this looks awesome! And so does that Nebulus! I would really like to grab that (GAS) when it comes out. Does anyone have an opinion on the DIGITAL Tremolo that Empress makes? Is it pretty good or is it not all that because its digital? I look a the price compared to the other one they look exactly the same. Anyone have the digital version, how is it?
Poor quality guitar demo: http://en.audiofanzine.com/guitar-distortion-overdrive-fuzz/empress-effects/heavy/news/a.play,n.16290.html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=link&utm_content=news&utm_campaign=%5BNAMM%5D%5BVIDEO%5D+Empress+Heavy+demo Hard to tell, but sounds pretty nice. I love the aggressive gate setting.
I didnt hear it on bass, but I stopped in at the Empress booth at NAMM the other day. It sounded massive on guitar- definitely more gain than the Multidrive. Tons of low end on tap too. I imagine it is great for bass. It is a lot more gainey and compressed though- if you want subtle distortion or overdrive, this isn't it! If you want classic 80's rhthym chunk or saturated lead tones, this could be your ticket!
The Nebulous looked awesome. I imagine I'll be trying one soon... Btw, the Empress Tremolo pedal has an all analog signal, but is only digitally controlled for tap tempo. I own one & it is by far one of the best sounding pedals I own. I use it in my guitar rig (I dont really use trem on bass), but I have tried it with bass and it is full-frequency.
Sounds great. I love love love my Multidrive for church stuff but for some of the heavier stuff I like to play at home I wish it had more gain. As I said earlier I love my Multidrive on guitar and would like to use it more on bass. This sounds like a similar deal---a total winner on guitar with some possibilities for bass.
A couple of new guitar demos are up. I requested a bass demo on Empress's official YouTube channel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2V2M5LyzWg http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/19392-summer-namm-13---empress-effects-heavy-nebulus-demos
Saw this last night. Looks really neat albeit with WAY more gain than I need for my band. IT probably kills on bass, as does my Multidrive and the Tremolo that I had previously.
I hope some bass demos come up soon, this thing sounds badass. I wouldn't use overdrive/distortion/fuzz a lot for my solo stuff, but I imagine that if I wanted to, I would want it to be heavy and nasty as hell.
It looks like this is starting to become available. I'm a little disappointed it's at the $300 price point, I was hoping for $250 (though I'm not surprised).
Mr. Excane said he was going to do clips. If you go to the page on the Empress website there is a song where they recorded all the bass and guitar parts with the Heavy. And they have a video on how they did it. I'm listening to the song now, and I haven't watched the video yet.
