    these mountains you see are pure granite outcrops .
    { great for climbing ...}

    legend has it that the native indians around here used
    to say the hills were enchanted by spirits ...

    ...the sun heats the rocks , and then the very cold temps at night
    affect the rock , causing them to creak and groan { you can actually hear it at night }
    which the indians thought were spirits ...
    or so the park ranger's say ...:D

    I've never been there but I've spent time in the hill country. In fact the wife and I were in Wimberley just this past weekend. We visited a vinyard with a great view.

    Went camping there once. It was great! Entered the "fissure" at the top, there's something like 40-some entrances/exits. Went most of the way through it, then the batteries started to die, we turned around and came out near the top...looked up, and all we saw were STARS!!! Too Cool! :hyper:

    Was it Sister Creek??? If so, they have the best Muscat...

    Dave - my wife and I did a tour of about 3 or 4 state parks in one day a few years ago. I personally loved the rock the best...

    You're making me sick and jealous!! My wife and I have the bug to get out (i'm in the dog house right now so I gotta do what she says... I wanted to go shoot some pigs with the Qintar, but right now it may not be the best idea).....

    We hit up the Natural Bridge stuff this week end...

    Dave, have you been to that park behind Fiesta Texas off Camp Bullis????

    :)

    you mean Eisenhauer Park ?
    yeah , we go there at least twice a month just to get out
    and do some serious leg stretching ... it's a nice place to
    take the kids and let them run .

    i ran into an old friend { ex-drummer } the other day at that park ...
    he was climbing down the observation tower just as we were
    getting ready to go up .

    anyway , here's a couple of me and my pup Ruby at Enchanted Rock ...

    i'll tell you what , by the end of the afternoon i was seriously
    dog tired .

    we took the " loop trail " which is approximately 4.5 mile long ,
    and goes completely around the four main mountains ,
    and we added extra trail time by swinging out to the lake for a look around .

    i carried a backpack with the water and food , and most of the time was being pulled along by Ruby on her leash .
    { that dog crashed out big time when we finally got home ...}

  17. Gotta love the outdoors. I haven't been in a while, due to lack of funding, but I'm gonna go at least twice over the summer.

    Here's a pic of me from a while back. It's the High Adventure guys from my Boy Scout troop at the Summit of South Sister, the third tallest peak in Oregon at 10,286 feet. I'm the one on the far right with the red bandana.

    Rock on

    I bought Jaco a backpack last year - HE LOVES CARRYING IT!!!! The little boober get so excited when I put it on him. :rolleyes: :D From what I have been told, when you put a working class dog to work, they are really happy...

    We we start hitting the parks, that little ###### is going to be carrying our stuff for us (along with his food and water)...

    :)
