Just got back from the Eno Festival in Durham NC. Saw 4 Kay basses. A blonde Kay, A 50's Kay, and a 60's Kay, and one of unknown origin with the top painted red, white ,green, and yellow. One Kay was being bowed with a German Bow, held like a French. Another guy had this SOUND I would love to have, the funkiest I've ever heard on a plucked Kay in a non-jazz setting. Just down and dirty and on the money. Nice to see & hear 4 basses in one place in 3 hours. Too bad I had the kids or I'd have more to report. Music was fine, mostly old timey, bluegrass, and jamband stuff. Nice way to spend a Sunday with the kids.
