Does anyone have any hands on comments on playability, sound or ownership of this Epiphone clone of the original Gibson EB1?
    Thanks

  2. The consensus seems to be... buy the Jay Turser or Brice (Rondo music) version for $250 less.

I think he's talking about the other Epi violin bass, the ones that look like this.

Yep, that's the one. Solid body, painted on f-hole, and one humbucker.

I'm interested in hearing comments as well.

    I own a 1968 EB-1.
Great bass, plays and sounds wonderful.
    Built like a tank.
    The Epiphone was junk.
Poorly made, cheap parts, sounds bad.

  6. Before Mars Music went under, they had tons of them . I really, really wanted to like them because of their cool vintage vibe...but I couldn't. I must have played (literally) 15 of them and I wouldn't even consider buying any of them. The workmanship was uniformly terrible and the hardware was very low quality.
