This is a really nice Epiphone Elite Thunderbird. If you are not familiar with the Epiphone Elite line, they were made in Japan to a much higher quality than the standard Epiphone offerings. Many folks -- and I am one of them -- believe these instruments are at least the equal of Gibson's US basses (if not even better in many cases). This is basically the same as an "Orville by Gibson" bass, just branded as an Epiphone Elite. I am only selling this bass because I just picked up a Mike Lull T4 and I don't need two Thunderbirds. Honestly, though, this Epiphone can keep up with the Lull! The standard Epi T-birds are nice for the price but this bass is in a whole other league. Here are some details: Chrome hardware for an authentic vintage look (much nicer IMO than the black hardware on current Gibson T-birds) P'up and bridge covers included but not currently installed (they were installed when I got the bass, so the screw holes are there) Upgraded Hipshot bridge installed (these bridges screw right into the existing holes with no permanent modification needed so you can go back to the original if you want -- it is included -- but I can't imagine you would want to) Additional b/w/b pick guard included but not installed Schaller straplock pins installed (these are black, but you could easily replace with chrome) Weight per bathroom scale method is right about 8 lbs (my weighing method is inexact, but it is not a heavy bass by any means) Original hard shell case included (but note that leather handle needs repair, as shown in pics) Overall in good used condition, with some play wear but no abuse and no major dings or defects Before anyone asks, yes this bass has some neck dive, but that comes with the territory if you are looking at Thunderbirds (unless you want to shell out three times the price for a Lull) Here is the for sale thread where I bought this. It includes a couple of pics with the p'up and bridge covers installed, if you are interested: http://www.talkbass.com/threads/f-s-epiphone-elite-thunderbird.1016509/ I'm looking for $750 plus shipping on this one. I would rather do a cash deal but am somewhat open to trades, including: P or J basses of similar quality (e.g., Lakland Skyline, Fender US, G&L, etc.) Musicman basses Orange Bass Terror Mesa Walkabout Here are some pics:
Really looking to sell but feel free to run ideas by me. If you have something that would be easy for me to flip and it works out value-wise, I might consider a trade.
http://www.talkbass.com/threads/epi...-wanted-2band-stingray.1112916/#post-16767505 I found my 2 band Stingray but these two are still the odd ones out. Let me know, thanks! Dave
