I'm looking to pick up an EQ pedal. Now, what I need to know is, my bass is a little too warm for my likings, but can I mess with the EQ to get it to be more punchy, and twangy? What's the point of an EQ pedal? Thanks.

An EQ pedal is one way to alter your tone. If you boost or cut the right frequencies you can usually get more punch or warmth or whatever you're looking for. Do you have a specific EQ unit in mind?

Something like the DOD FX Stompbox EQ. Nothing expensive.

I just ordered a Dano Fish and Chips 7-Band EQ, soon to be arriving, ill tell you about it when it gets in. It's supposed to be one of the stars of thier mini pedal line. By the way, if you look at the Maxon FX pedal sight, under their EQ pedal, they have a suggestion to make a passive bass sound active.
