EQ Questions

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by ChaosGwar, Mar 3, 2002.

  1. Ok, I have a 7 band EQ foot pedal, and a 3 band EQ on my amp.

The amp is set (from -15 to +15) at Bass: +10, Mid:+4, and High: +8. It has sweet punch, great sustain, and the highs cut through really well.

I want my EQ to effectively boost the bottom end, but be able to keep my highs.

    I have it set up (from -18 to +18) like this. 63:+6, 125: -3, 250: -8, 500: 0, 1k: -8, 2k: -3, Level: 0.

    it looks kinda like this
    63..125..250..500..1k..2k..Level
    .I.......................................... 6
    .....................I.................I.... 0
    .......I........................I........... -3
    .............I.............I................ -8
    It's not exact. but close.

I'm not getting the highs to cut through as much as I would like. If I push the 2k or Level any higher, I get bad static and hum. Part of this I'm sure is my POS amp. If I raise the 63, it starts to sound like mud. If I raise the 125 or 250, I start to lose my high end.

Any suggestions on how I should set up my EQ?

  2. (Assuming its ±15dB)
    63Hz: flat
    125Hz: +12dB
    225Hz: +10dB
    500Hz: flat
    1kHz: -15dB (notched)
    2kHz: -5dB

Boost bass and treble on your amp.

  3. Thanks man, that helped alot. I think the rest of the problem lies with my crappy amp. :D
