EQing help

    Keeping the Groove staying out of Treble
    how do i Eq my amp to get a sort of an slightly dark organic upright sound with some mwaah.Im currently using a defretted bass with rosewood fingerboard along with a hartke combo amp which bassically has 4 knobs - vol,bass,mids,treble.

    There's more going on in that tone than can be achieved with a simple EQ section, and your technique will be the key to achieving it with any given gear setup. However, you will want to emphasize the mid-range -- no scooping for that tone!

    There are FAQs on EQ, but with only 3 knobs to play with, it shouldn't take long to figure out what each does to your tone. Start with everything in the middle and sweep each through its full range, playing the same phrases at each setting. Just be careful you don't have your volume up too high, especially when you're boosting the bass end; speakers don't like that.
