Ok, I'm a 6 string fiend, and I'm wondering if there are 6 string EUB's for less than or equal to 3 grand.

so far the cheapest one I've seen is this Clevinger

second question, are they really a good substitute for a standard upright bass?

Yeah I've been there before I really dont think I'd like those. I want something a little more profesionaly looking.

With the added 'vertical' range of the DB-type of instrument, maybe you could talk yourself into a 5 string and increase your choices. This would also increase to bow-ability of the thing as it would be tough to space the strings on a 6-er so that you could get a good bite on the strings with The Stick.

thanks for the idea, but I'm definatly looking for a 6 string, I'm going to go ahead and be completely closed minded about that, but any other suggest would be greatly appreciated.

don't they make a czech ns 6 for around 3?
the 5's are around 2,400.00 new....
imho, no, no eub sounds anywhere near a real upright.
i play arco at least 50% of the time. i prefer eub, although i'd love to have a db, too.
