According to the link, these were originally scheduled for release but due to covid production was halted. These will be very limited and look absolutely amazing. If you like that original pre Ernie Ball era / Louis Jonson, Bernard Edwards, Paul Denman look and feel, these might be for you.

Meh. I mean, it's cool to see such an accurate reproduction, but at those prices and such limited availability, it's not about getting them out to be played.... they'll be sucked up by collectors and sit most likely.

Please, please EBMM, give us a production fretless option again at a semi-normal price point?

Didn't they just release basically this same model but in sunburst with the latest iteration of the BFR? It even had the different style of knobs, if I remember correctly. And I think it was around the $3000 mark.

Yeah, I have a Sterling, I like the sound. I was considering a "real" one until I saw the prices, even used. I don't gig enough to justify spending that much on a bass. So I'll keep my $300 Sterling and my $2000.

Leo Fender would probably agree. He would probably get a big shock at what prices for his original instruments go for now a days.
But no one here expects to pay prices from the past on todays new items or those now considered vintage.

Does anyone know how long MM used the black and silver plastic knobs like the ones on this bass? My first Music Man Stingray back in the day had these knobs. I dont have the serial number, all I know is that it was a very early example.

For $599, you can use some of the cash you'd have left over to have the neck sanded and refinished as bare wood. I know a lot of folks who did that with the USA-made SUBs. I never minded the painted necks and I had 3 of them - a fretted one in teal, an active fretless in black, and a passive fretless in white. Wish I had all 3 of them still. I sold them in a fit of GAS. The fretless SUB was the best recording bass I've ever owned, and a dream fretless to play. They never show up for sale anymore for a reason.... they were a unicorn of amazing value in a USA-made EBMM axe.
