I've read a few reviews and they all seem positive.

Sam Ash has a few brand new for $299, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it.

    Neck Thru
    Active EMG HZ
    3-band Active EQ
    String Thru body bridge

I played it last night at the store and it sounds really nice. I'm just looking to see if anyone out here thinks that it's worth $299.

    Thanks

Thats a good price and worth every freakin' penny this company and these basses don't get the respect they deserve....

I own two (ESP's) and wouldn't trade them for anything....

'preciate the response. I just called 'em back and bought it - I'm on my way to go pick it up.

    BTW, these basses are gorgeous!

I got the Amber Sunburst. I'll post a picture of mine in a day or so (it's supposed to be a Christmas gift to me from my wife , so the kids can't know that I got it already).

Here's the stock ESP photo of the amber...

I think they look awesome, and the amber finish is nice.

  7. Nice bass. Your gonna love it, too. I've had my LTD B-305 for 4 years. Always plays well. The 254 has very similar electronics. They are actually not EMG's stock. I have played the 40x and up seires with the EMG's and didn't like the sound. I think maybe the EMG's are to hi-fi or cold.

    Anyways, enjoy your new bass.

  8. yes, these do not get the respect. I have had several ESP's. I just bought a F255FM. Love it!! My nephew just got the B255 and he is absolutley happy.

I also play an LTD B-305. I found the lonely girl in a pawn shop and gave her a try. I wouldn't trade this bass for anything. It didn't cost an arm and a leg (or any other body parts), it sounds great, and I don't get upset if she gets a nick here and there. I've had this bass for 6 years and she's never let me down. Great instruments for a decent price.

Just remember that ESP and LTD are not the same thing. Never have been, and never will be. I own a LTD B-50L and trying to compare it to my main bass, ESP custom shop 5-string would be completely useless. Like comparing a Toyota Corolla ´88 to a brand new ferrari.

  12. Dude, sorry to rain on your parade, ESP and LTD are the same company.

Your comparison between toyota corolla and ferrari is lame.

Two completely different categories of cars and brands. Maybe your analogy should be comparing a VW Golf GTi Made in Germany to a Golf Made in Brazil. Where the Golf sold in the US is called a Rabbit and has some cheaper Brazilian parts but esentially the same car and performance. Maybe a comparison between a VW GTi R32 and a VW Golf with a lowly 1.3 liter??

I dont know, I played a MADE IN JAPAN Tom Araya and a Made in Indonesia TA600 and Made in China TA200. They all felt and looked identical. The Ta200 had a crummy setup and the tone was a little different due to electronics, but same thing. Custom Shop ESP basses are gonna be $$$. I would rather get something else custom for the price.

Hmmm...interesting that my "ESP LTD" says ESP on the back of the neck, The tuners are stamped ESP and the pickups say ESP.
Yes, its an LTD which is ESPs budget priced factory made line. Japanese ESP are hard to come by in the US.

The B50 is the bottom of the barrel. A good entry level bass, but you cannot compare it to even a B104/105. Step up to the B155/255 and the basses already start to feel and play differently. And of course a custom shop ESP is in a different class than an assembly line LTD.

    Educate yourself

And I guess ESP lied to me when they advertise the bass I bought on their web site.

  13. The Japanese made "ESP" are pretty hard to some by in the US. Reason is the taxes and exchange rates etc between Japan and US make them pricey and not worth the extra price. Keep checking eBay for a used one. I bought my ESP/LTD F255FM at the Music Go Round in San Jose (I see you are in the Bay Area). He has some Japanese models in there from time to time.
