ESP seems to have a reputation for being a METAL bass. I own three of them....I love them all.....the necks are to die for, construction is always top notch. Even their budget basses seem to be better than most of the competition in their price range.

The Classic Vibe and Vintage Mod series of squiers get a lot of love here.....and don't get me wrong they are great basses for the money (yes I own one of each).....however I recently picked up a vintage LTD 204 (as I wanted a beater bar bass) and it blows them away....

This model caught my attention as well....

If it's anything like my other ESP's it will rock!

I wish it had a passive tone control.

Anybody play one of these yet? They look really sweet to me.

I just tried one in the local shop.
The neck is very comfortable, and I was surprised that it is a full 34" scale: it felt shorter. Nice and light, and the ergonomics are good. The body looks to me like a copy of the Hagstrom Coronado (+), but the headstock struck me as odd (-).

It has a very clear tone, a bit "throat-y". I could definitely see this in a rock/metal context, less so for jazz or blues. Slappable, if necessary.

I didn't care for the 3-band EQ, neither its layout or its function. The active/passive switch is nearly inaccessible, and I didn't warm to the stacked mid knobs. All the controls were crunchy, even though it is supposed to be new.

  7. Huh, that's odd. Looking at the spec, i tought it would be more like esp's attempt at making a "poor man's fodera"
