I'm seriously thinking about buying an Essex fretless P-Bass style model. The '62 version with the rosewood fretboard. BUT! It states in the Rondo Music ads on eBay that the fretlines are painted on. How in the world can you paint fretlines on rosewood and have them hold up under usage when rosewood is not normally finished in any kind of lacquer? Are the rosewood fretboards on these models lacquered over? If anyone has one of these models I'd sure appreciate some info and experience knowledge about it. Thanks.
