Essex Fretless Bass Question?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Sammy Camden, Dec 29, 2003.

  1. I'm seriously thinking about buying an Essex fretless P-Bass style model. The '62 version with the rosewood fretboard. BUT!

It states in the Rondo Music ads on eBay that the fretlines are painted on. How in the world can you paint fretlines on rosewood and have them hold up under usage when rosewood is not normally finished in any kind of lacquer? Are the rosewood fretboards on these models lacquered over?

If anyone has one of these models I'd sure appreciate some info and experience knowledge about it.

    Thanks.

I once had impure thoughts. Oh, and I pluck my ear hair.
Have you tried e-mailing Kurt at Rondo? He's quite responsive and will likely get back to you quickly with an answer.

I have the fretless P with a mple fretboard and on mine the lines arent painted on; they are actual little inlay strips.
