I was wondering if anyone has one of these sx jazz bass guitars.

Im not sure why I am looking at another bass when ive only recently got my first one (squier p) but I stumbled across this one and its ONLY $365 AUD. At least it will give me something to save for other than a new car :D.

I just wanted to know if they are any good quality, what the sound is like and the sort.
  2. Hey Dude.

SX Basses are OK. They're not amazing, but they are good value for money.

I had a fretless SX Jazz.

Many talk bass users here use them and like them for their good value ;) (I actually kept the pups out of my fretless SX and have them in another bass ATM - they're pretty nice! Especially for $10 chinese pickups! LOL).

There is a huge thread about them called the Essex Bass guitars MEGATHREAD (it's 234 pages long!!!).

    Check it out here:

    Where are you in Australia?

If you're in Melbourne, I'd get out to Melmusic and play one instead of buying mail order. For a cheap bass they are quite consistent, but there are variations, and having a first hand selection will allow you to look at them closely, and play a few. By doing this, you can buy the nicest one, and you may pick up a nicer bass than just trying your luck with mail order.

Having said that ;) I actually bought mine here:

It's amazing what they sell them for in the US! But after shipping, it still cost me $280 to get mine here landed. Melmusic is not much more, and if you're close you get to try it out before you buy.

Im in Adelaide, but im not exactly looking to purchase one this second lol. Just seeing if it is worth buying one in the not too distant future, you know something to aspire for (if they are worth it).

The reason I didnt post in the megathread is I did a search on the forum and there was only one topic on this particular guitar and it was also some other guy from Australia looking at exactly the same one (maybe they bought it already).

I thought it would work out more to get one imported..good ol' Aussie dollar.

Anyway thanks for the reply :D
  4. Cool ;)

Like I said, they're not bad basses - good value. Check out your Adelaide dealers - some of them might stock SX gear and you can go and check them out.
