Essex neck to Fender body?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by sat, Dec 8, 2005.

  1. I'm considering buying an Essex bass with the money I got today selling my college books. :hyper: If I do I'm thinking of picking up one of their p-basses with a maple fretboard. I'm a huge fan of maple fretboards on jazz basses, so if I get one I may switch the rosewood neck of my MIM jazz with the Essex P neck. Anyone here try this or know for sure that the necks fit? Thanks.

  2. I tried switching the neck from a mim fender and an essex but the holes didn't line up. it was really close but it didn't fit. it might work for you but maybe you'll need to redrill the holes

  4. Well that kind of sucks. :crying: Oh well, maybe I'll just pick up one of their maple jazzes. Thanks for the info.

  5. Plugging and redrilling new holes isn't that big a deal if that's all you need to do to make the SX neck fit. Check the Set Up forum.

How can you make the neck fit a fender? Adjusting the drill holes is one thing; heel size another.
