Horseflies Abuzz Over Pop Music By STAN JEFFERSON, Disassociated Press Writer 2 hrs 31 mins ago Sin Gatos, New Mexico. – Researchers at the University of New Mexico have discovered a new method for dealing with troublesome horseflies. Neuro etomologist Jerry Horowitz set up a large sound system at a local cattle ranch and began blasting various types of music. “The flies disappeared when I put on anything by Frank Zappa,” Horowitz said. “So I started thinking what attracts flies? I set up another sound system playing catchy teenage pop music on the other side of the cattle yard. And all the flies swarmed there looking for their favorite treat.” Local Rancher Marion Morrison is happy to have the pesky flies under control but doesn’t like their taste in music. “It’s too bad they don’t like Johnny Cash,” Morrison said.
