Because Photobucket has chosen to in effect "take down" everyone's photos (unless you pay them), we have extended post edit time in the Luthier's Corner to UNLIMITED.  If you used photobucket and happen to still have your images of builds, you can go back and fix as many of your posts as far back as you wish.

EUB Traditional Neck

Discussion in 'Luthier's Corner' started by AndersonHSBass, May 30, 2005.

  1. I apologize if this all sounds ridiculous, this is simply an idea that I began to wonder about. I have been interested in building an electric upright bass for several months now, and was wondering how I could go about attaching this neck: Replacement from Bob to a 2.5" thick body. I haven't built (or purchased) any of this yet, but wanted to ask before I just jumped in. I am an amateur builder, thanks for the help.

You make a dove-tail grove that fits the neck dove-tail, and glue it in. Then you saw off the excess depth of the joint of the neck, and you're done.
Don't complicate things, just do them with care.

  3. Thank you very much for the quick reply. What glue would be best suited for this type of gluing?

Any two-component, or Titebond, or possibly urethane. Or hide glue.
